Advantages and Disadvantages of Mayor’s Court
Unlike many upper-level courts, mayor’s court is relatively informal and it takes place in the evening so many defendants do not have to miss work to attend their hearings. Mayor courts have many of the structural advantages of county courts without the formalities.

Types of Cases in Amberley Village Mayor’s Court

Amberley Villiage Mayor’s Court Penalties
The type of consequence handed down by the Amberley Mayor’s court will depend on the classification of the offense charged. The penalties for misdemeanors settled in mayor’s court include the following:
- First-degree misdemeanor –punishable by up to 180 days in jail and up to $1,000 fines.
- Second-degree misdemeanor – punishable by up to 90 days in the jail and up to $750 fines.
- Third-degree misdemeanor – punishable by up to 60 days in jail and up to $500 fines.
- Fourth-degree misdemeanor – punishable by up to 30 days in jail and up to $250 fines.
- Minor misdemeanor –no jail time and up to $150 fines.
